HELLO WORLD!

Hello World! My name is Oscar D. Meany and I am honored to be writing the first post here on M.E.A.N.Y. MUSIC. I guess its best to start off by giving you some background on what M.E.A.N.Y. actually is, then maybe declaring the purpose of this blog. M.E.A.N.Y. stands for Musicians & Emerging Artists New York, and is represented here in the city by a large number of live music events (sometimes we even go out to Jersey). M.E.A.N.Y. Fest- which is gearing up for its eight year, is two-week music festival that brings together close to 300 bands from all over the nation to some of the best stages here in New York City. Culminating with the M.E.A.N.Y. Fest Finals where the audience's top-voted bands square off in front of a panel of industry luminaries. The festival has gone from a small, grassroots affair to one of the most successful New York City music festivals on record. It remains a testimony to the hard work, dedication and love for music held by its founding organization, GNYC Music Company and the tight knit group that manages to make it all happen. Now that you know the who's and the what's, let's focus on the why's. M.E.A.N.Y. Music has been a goal of mine since I became involved with the organization and the festival some three years ago. I want M.E.A.N.Y. Music to serve as a channel of communication for up to the minute News and Happenings, Special Guests and Events. As the festival nears this Fall, we'll be clueing you in on everything you need to know and introducing you to some special people in the Arts and Music scene. I hope this ride becomes as exciting as it is for me, and for all of us who make it happen year after year. In any case: WATCH THIS SPACE! We'll be doing video blogs, talking to bands that we like, trying to get YOU guys more involved with what WE do. Hopefully, we'll all be better for the experience. Rock on, Oscar D. Meany
